If you’ve reached this blog post, it means you’ve decided to upgrade your life! Yay! The old you is no more; you’re ready to challenge yourself and create You 2.0! Fantastic. . . . . well, how are you going to do it?
At Kevivé, we believe diet is the first step to improving all other aspects of your life. With optimal energy levels and nutritional building blocks, you can have the motivation and tools to achieve your career, workout, and even emotional goals!
We hang our hat on some key nutritional principles, healthy fats, low carbs, and absolutely no heavily processed foods. These principles are based on ideas from the ketogenic and low carb high fat (LCHF) diets. . . I’m sure you’ve heard of them by now.
Instead of rehashing the same tired blog posts of “What is keto?” or “What foods to eat on keto”, I’m going to put together a nice simple list of resources of other authors, speakers, and sites you can refer to when you want to learn more!
After many years of trial and error, I’ve compiled my personal list of go-to FREE resources. Here are my top 6.
- Burn Fat Not Sugar (Website) <https://burnfatnotsugar.com/index.html>
A website + book (not free) combo by Dr. Ted Naiman which simplifies the main points of a low carb high fat (LCHF) lifestyle. Strikes a great balance between scientific facts, but doesn’t get bogged down in the details. I think this should become the new standard for nutritional guidelines!
- Thomas DeLauer (YouTube) <https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTdelauer>
Thomas offers a YouTube channel that covers a comprehensive list of ketogenic, dieting, supplementation, and exercise topics. He cites plenty of sources in his short and poignant videos. He also offers a complete course on his website, but honestly, he has enough YouTube content to last an extended lifetime!
- Jason Fung <https://www.dietdoctor.com/intermittent-fasting>
Intermittent fasting is just as important as LCHF! Jason Fung is a Canadian who is a world-leading expert on intermittent fasting and low carb and using diet to treat age-related diseases. He does a fantastic job of simplifying the intermittent eating schedule and its effects on the body.
- MyFitnessPal (App)
This app has been instrumental in keeping me on track! Personally, it’s my favorite app for nutrition tracking. Has a huge database of foods, social aspect to keep you accountable, and simple to use! When I first started keto I used it daily, now I use it every few weeks to reestablish my baseline of food consumption in case I stray too far.
- Reddit (Social Media) <https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/>
Finding a community is great for keeping you on track with your lifestyle goals! Reddit offers a highly active keto community you can begin to engage in which will help you build just that. See other’s progress, see what challenges others are facing, maybe connect with an accountability buddy! If you already Reddit make sure to subscribe to these sites. My personal favorite is r/ketorecipes which help keep my weekly meal prep new and fresh.
- Dominic D’ Agostino (Website) <https://www.ketonutrition.org/blog>
Of course, no keto/IF resource list would be complete without talking about one of the preeminent fathers of the diet, Dr. Dominic D’ Agostino. His contributions to the field have been primarily on the research side of things, and have been funded by lots of military-related contracts. This means that the military-industrial complex is interested in optimizing the warfighter through his nutrition strategies! His website offers a wealth of hardcore scientific information and resource links that can further guide you on your journey.
This list is by no means comprehensive but should give you a good starting point in your own journey, or if you’ve been at it a while, some novel resources to look into to keep you motivated on your fitness path.
In the age of (dis) information, there’s an infinite amount of crackpot science and diets, and it’s only been through years of research and self-development that I’ve been able to distill the best resources. This culmination of passion and work is how Kevivé was born. We are on a mission to simply help you Live Better, Longer.
